Sound & Hearing
Sound sense
Talking about sound is one thing. Hearing it is another. Coomber equipment can play a supporting role in your explanations about sound and hearing.
For KS1 and KS2 classes, Coomber cassette recorders and CD players can be used to play a variety of sounds in the classroom - giving children the opportunity to develop their sense of sound.
Getting them to identify sounds and the differences between sounds (i.e. different bird calls, the sound of things moving away etc) or asking them to locate sound sources helps to increase their understanding of sound.
The nature of sound
KS3 and KS4 students can benefit from hearing how pitch, volume, tone and distance alters sound. Pitch control (variable speed) can be used to demonstrate how movement of sound source towards and away from a person is heard.

2017 CD Player and Cassette Recorder
- Use for playing sounds and noises in the classroom.
2018 CD Player and Cassette Recorder (with variable speed CD player)
- Use as per 2017 but also experiment with pitch to demonstrate how speed and direction distorts sound.
