Why Do We Advertise Our Products Using Badminton Courts?
- If somebody asked me what 80sq metres looked like, I would struggle a bit. I would also struggle to explain what 65Watts sounds like - well, how loud is it? However, even though I didn't play badminton at school, I do recollect the area taken up by a badminton court, because it was marked out in our school hall.
- Badminton courts are so common in U.K. schools that advertising power output in terms of badminton courts makes good sense. So, rather than suggest that power output is 65Watts (mono) or 44 watts (stereo) we suggest that the power output is enough for "1 badminton court" (for example - making it easier for you to imagine how powerful it really is!
- This is quite important because power figures can be misleading. Some audio equipment manufacturers give power ratings in Watts RMS, others in Watts MPO (which is really a measure of peak performance attainable for only a few moments - rather like an explosion of sound or a sudden rush of adrenalin). Where possible, we give both figures. Furthermore, the amplifier might be giving out 100Watts (RMS), but if the speaker is of poor quality then the sound gets strangled anyway.
- By giving you, the user, a mental picture of a badminton court, you have an opportunity of working out whether our equipment is suitable for your purposes. We hope that this way of describing power output proves helpful to you.
