Can't get the cassette out?
Some Coomber equipment incorporates a solenoid controlled electronic tape mechanism. For example:-
  • 3902, 3904, 3907 cassettes
  • 2060/RW PA cassette
  • 901 teacher controller
They are easy to identify because they include coloured LEDs on the RECORD, PLAYBACK and PAUSE buttons.

If the power is turned off while in PLAY/PAUSE mode, the EJECT button will not operate and the cassette will remain jammed in the machine - apparently faulty. THIS IS NOT THE CASE.

Having had the power cut off in mid-flow, the solenoids have simply remained locked in position.
To correct the problem:-
  • Switch on the unit at the mains or, (in the case of 3904-24 and 3907-24 models) plug the units back into the 901 teacher controller and switch that on.
  • When the power comes back on you will hear a "clattering" sound as the tape mechanism resets itself in the idle position.
  • You can now remove the tape.
PLEASE DO NOT FORCE THE TAPE DOOR SINCE DAMAGE CAUSED BY ABUSE IS NOT COVERED BY OUR WARRANTY
